IKEA Guangzhou, China receives 'Very Good' BREEAM International rating
Overview
The proposed Guangzhou Tianhe IKEA Store is located in No. 663, East Huangpu avenue, Tianhe district, Guangzhou, China. Mainly engaged in furniture and home supplies, the IKEA store is located in the 1st and 2nd floor Meilin MLive Commercial mall.
Within the framework of the Ikea Group sustainability plan, the project is pursuing the Very Good Level of BREEAM certification, based on the BREEAM International Refurbishment & Fit-out 2015.

Background
An IKEA Project Manager commented on why they had taken part in the scheme:
“BREEAM Refurbishment and Fit-Out scheme tremendously helps us benchmark our sustainability efforts for the renovation work, creating values for global alignment of our goals and conveys a strong message to our staff: we care about everyone’s sustainable development”.
Some of the sustainable technologies used throughout the project included the following:
- Life Cycle Cost analysis at conception design stage
- High efficiency lighting and lighting control
- Air source heat pump system for hot water
- Site visit regularly to ensure construction and installations are in line with the targeted BREEAM Standards

- Acoustic modeling
