LPCB product certification process

LPCB product certification process

Certification (or approval) is independent third-party confirmation that a product or system meets and continues to meet the appropriate standard. BRE offers independent third-party certification to existing British, European, International and its own Loss Prevention Standards (LPSs) or Schedules of Requirements. You can see more details of the certification process in this infographic.

We test and certify:

  • Passive fire protection products

  • Fire detection and alarm systems

  • Sprinkler, spray and deluge systems

  • Fire extinguishers and hose reels

  • Fixed fire fighting systems (gas and water mist)

  • Security products (electronic and physical)

Benefits of third-party certification for manufacturers include:

  • Increased global sales, as LPCB certification is recognised and specified widely throughout the world.

  • Enhances the value of your products or services, as LPCB listed products and services are recognised as providing added value given their ability to conform each and every time.

  • Reduced liability, by demonstrating due diligence with LPCB listed products and services which can reduce liability for both you and your customers.

Step 1: Application and product information

Are you applying for LPCB certification or do you have a question about a standard? Our expert team is here to help with the process.

Step 2: Quotation and acceptance

Once you have shared the required information with us, we will prepare a quotation covering the evaluation and certification of the products/systems.

Step 3: Testing and evaluation

We will conduct the testing and evaluation which is monitored and overseen by a team of experts.

Step 4: Factory production control (FPC)

Step 4: Factory production control (FPC)

We will undertake an audit of the factory production control system. Testing and audit activities will be programmed to minimise the timescales for achieving LPCB certification

Step 5: Certification awarded

We will issue an LPCB certificate on successful completion of all elements of the certification program. We undertake continuous audits, and maintenance of the product certification is dependent on the results.

Step 6: Listed on RedBook

All certified products are listed in RedBook, which is used by thousands of specifiers around the world every month to source effective products and verify the status of their LPCB certification.

How we test your security products

We take third-party certification of fire and security equipment seriously.
