As a responsible business, BRE joins Business in the Community
BRE has joined Business in the Community (BITC), to embed its commitment to being a responsible business. Formed in 1982, and with His Majesty King Charles III as its Royal Founding Patron, BITC is the largest and longest-established membership organisation dedicated to responsible business. Its members include more than 600 businesses across Britain and Northern Ireland, each committed to embedding and improving their responsible business practice.

Jane Goddard, Director of Corporate Affairs at BRE said “We have chosen to work with Business in the Community because we share a similar purpose. BRE is a profit for purpose business, and we’re committed to being a responsible business that contributes to a thriving and sustainable world. By joining the BITC movement, we can unite our efforts with other like-minded businesses to manage our impact on the environment, and continuously improve our organisation for our colleagues and communities.”
The BITC membership will also enable BRE to undergo a regular responsible business health check. BITC uses their Responsible Business Map to guide members on a holistic journey of continuous improvement.
BITC define a responsible business as a healthy business, one that puts creating healthy communities (health and well-being, employment and skills, and diversity and inclusion) and a healthy environment (circular economy, climate action, and nature stewardship) at the centre of its strategy to achieve long-term value.
The Responsible Business Map was built on the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals which gives a blueprint for what is needed to achieve a world without poverty and hunger, and a healthy planet with peace and prosperity for all.
